Assistant Manager

This is an assistant outlet management position with high exposure and high expectations. All leaders who have a history of achieving goals should consider this opportunity.  Barclay’s Upscale Casual is a dynamic full-service three meal period operation located in the heart of Calgary at the Sheraton Suites Eau Claire. These exceptional facilities include a 120 seat dining room, 100 seat lounge, a seasonal 90 seat outdoor patio, private dining area for exclusive group functions to a maximum of 40 guests & In Room dining for our 323 all-suite hotel.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·          Provides leadership & coaching for a team of up to 40 colleagues and ensures standards are being maintained and exceeded

·          Assisting with the recruitment and selection of new employees for Barclay’s

·          Participate in goal setting and goal-review with the leadership team, on a quarterly basis, using reach goals as a tool to drive results in all the pillars and measurements that effect our results

·          Act in the role as Maître d’hôtel with a strong focus on our evening guest.  Building strong relationship that is reflected in a growth of covers and average check & guest service index & continually seek new customers.

·          Understand both the restaurant's and the hotel's financial goals to achieve superior long-term financial returns to our shareholders

·          Following the marketing plan developed by the F&B Marketing Committee to assist in driving new business opportunities, as well as continuing to develop the reputation and recognition of our fine facility within the local Calgary market

·          Assist in creation of new initiatives and continually seek ways to attract new customers

·          Manage and motivate employees, taking the time to recognize their achievements

·          Monitor performance through positive feedback, corrective actions as necessary, annual performance reviews and follow up

·          Ensures effective utilization and productivity of all employees in Barclay’s, including involvement in staff planning, hiring, training and development, & payroll

·          Driving GSI (JD Power) results through development and execution of exceptional guest satisfaction initiatives

·          Displays professional behavior, integrity, pride and loyalty to the Hotel and its team

·          Daily walk through to ensure cleanliness and conditions standards are being met

·          Responsible for all cash on hand and nightly deposits

·          Ensures the department provides superior service

·          Health & Safety conscious working to provide a safe environment for employees and guests

·          Assisting with any extra responsibilities including expediting food during peek hours

·          Maintain a high degree of visibility on the floor, greeting guests, touching tables and assisting colleagues

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·          Minimum 3 years experience as a successful Leader in a large volume restaurant/lounge

·          Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills and communication abilities (written & verbal)

·          Sound decision-making and problem solving skills

·          Diploma or Degree in Hospitality/Hotel Administration an asset

·          Must have a sincere desire to exceed guest expectations

·          Strong understanding of Micros & all Windows based programs

·          Proven ability to delegate and follow up with projects and tasks

·          The ability to work flexible shifts (evenings, weekends & holidays) required

·          Results oriented, positive, service driven with a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize

·          Personable outgoing attitude a must!

·          Self Motivated, adapts to change with ease and is able to handle many tasks simultaneously & high stress situations

·          Creative individual who has a proactive eye for detail and cleanliness

·          Keeping a open mind and positive working relationship with Management and fellow employees

·          Possesses experience hiring, developing, motivating and managing employees
