Banquet Captain
Reporting to the Banquet Manager and Assistant Banquet Managers, the Banquet Captain will play a key role in the operations of the Banquet Department, including assisting with the direction of over 10,800 sq feet of Convention space in a modern setting. The successful candidate will possess an outstanding work ethic, strong organizational skills, and the proven ability to train and lead a team, of upwards of 50 employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enhancing, implementing and enforcing service standards
Developing the line staff in matters such as decision-making skills, event planning and execution and instilling a sense of urgency and ownership
Ensuring the financial success of the department by monitoring productivity, revenues and costs
Accountability for all financial reporting is maintained and accurate (billing, payroll etc.)
Liaising with the Conference Services/Catering Department to ensure that a common vision and direction is shared
Working with other Food and Beverage departments to ensure that all resources are being equally shared and that the entire division operates as a unified force
Ensuring that all equipment, fixtures and furniture of the department are kept in good supply and in the best repair possible
Developing and maintaining a safety culture within the department and ensure departmental adherence to and awareness of Health & Safety standards
Ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of the day to day operations of the Banquet department
Building a constructive, harmonious and communicative working relationship with all supporting departments
Maintaining and enhancing staff morale by consistently providing coaching, counceling and direction.
