Lead Steward
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and continue to build strong working team relationship within the department and interdepartmentally
- Conduct periodic inventories to ensure par stocks and resource availability are maintained, determining degree of usage and identifying purchase or equipment requirements
- Play an active role in the orientation and training of new employees
- Possess great attention to detail
- Promote a safe working environment, playing an active role in reducing hazards and accidents
- Seek ways to "raise the bar" for best practices
- Inspect all food and beverage areas and kitchens on a daily basis to ensure cleanliness and compliance with local health/sanitation codes
- Ensure Stewarding equipment, WHMIS standards and all relevant staff training in safety, service and chemical use is current
- Review banquet event orders to forecast equipment and supply requirements
- 40% of this role will be hands on operational requirements performing specialized cleaning in the Front and Heart of House Food & Beverage, often in the ware washing areas
- Working alongside and ensuring a positive contribution to the Stewarding Team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience Stewarding capacity
- A strong capacity to work with and motivate a diverse work force
- Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management a definite asset
- Results oriented, positive, service driven with a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize
- Proven leadership skills which supports an environment of employee growth, development and teamwork
- Adapts to change with ease and is able to handle many tasks simultaneously
- Previous participation with either a Health & Safety committee or an Environmental committee would be an asset
